holy week worship

Holy Week offers many worship opportunities at Bethany. Journey with us as we celebrate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, partake of his Holy Supper on Maundy Thursday, sympathize with his suffering on Good Friday, and rejoice in his resurrection on Easter Sunday. We hope to see you throughout the week!

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"

These are a couple of the greetings the crowd in Jerusalem shouted to Jesus as he rode in triumphantly on a donkey. Many in the crowd spread palm branches and their coats on the road in front of him.

"Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners."

Jesus said these words to his disciples after he instituted the Lord's Supper and prayed to his Father at Gethsemane and before he was taken into custody and interrogated by the Sanhedrin.

“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Jesus spoke these words to one of the criminals who was crucified next to him. Right up until his death, in the midst of great pain and suffering, Jesus carried out his mission to grant forgiveness to those who seek it. He truly "came to seek and to save the lost." - Luke 19:10

“Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Jesus spoke these words to the two Mary's after he rose on this most holy of mornings. Without this happening, the rest of Holy Week (and, really, our faith) wouldn't matter.

"Welcome, happy morning." Age to age shall say; "Hell today is vanquished; Heav'n is won today!" - Hymn #163 in Christian Worship - "Welcome, Happy Morning"
