Wednesday 10:00-11:00 am, Parkway Campus
Midweek Oasis is a chance for Bethany’s 55+ members to take time out in the middle of the week to come together around the Word. Pastor Mark teaches Midweek Oasis at Bethany's Parkway campus on Wednesday mornings as he brings the class through books of the Bible. Members of the class regularly bring home-baked treats to share, so come early for food and fellowship as well!
Midweek Oasis meets in the lower-level church fellowship hall. We are currently looking anew at Dr. Martin Luther's Small Catechism in a course entitled, "In The Simplest Way". No matter what color your catechism was when you received confirmation instruction from your parish’s pastor – or even what language was used – the purpose of Dr. Martin Luther’s Small Catechism remains the same. Following a visit to many of the neighboring churches in his area, Luther came away appalled at the inconsistency of Bible teaching from church to church and lack of understanding among the clergy and the laity alike. So he set out to provide a tool so that Christian doctrine could be learned through a short, simple, and plain form.
And his words of direction at the beginning of each of the six “chief parts” of Christian doctrine serve as the theme of our Bible study – “As the head of the family should teach them in the simplest way to those in his household.” Do you know where your catechism is? Do you regularly reference it in your daily devotional time? Have you forgotten more than you care to admit? In recognition of the 500th Anniversary of the reformation, we are offering a review of the catechism in our Winter 2017 Midweek Oasis session. We know that you will be blessed by once again digging in to your catechism!
